Case Study on the Learning and Development Program
Training Catalog 2016
The African Union increases its number of trained staff by 416 %
A 416% increase in the number of people trained has been recorded in the African Union in 2015. This comparative increase of the year 2014 is the result of efforts to strengthen the institution's capacity, under the Learning and Development program.
In total, 496 staff members were able to strengthen their skills in 15 different subjects or programs during the year 2015. Management training was of the greatest interest with 196 participants. In terms of program implementation, 8 of the 15 programs have been sponsored by African Union partners: India, China, the Organization of La Francophonie, the Swedish International Development Agency, University of Loyola.
These efforts to strengthen the internal capacities of the African Union stem from the fact that the institution operates in a constantly changing environment. African Union personnel must therefore regularly update their skills in order to be adequately equipped to meet the continent's real needs.
In order to continue the efforts in this line, for the year 2016, a training catalog containing some thirty programs was made available to the staff of the African Union.
